Typhoon & Sticks in Enschede

08122007(003), originally uploaded by me.

Nothing special, but good music. Awesome crowd and good performance of Typhoon and Sticks of Opgezwolle. I took some pictures, but this is the only one, which has reasonable quality. Cameras in mobile phones are only producing good quality pictures, if there is much light. Otherwise you will just get too much noise in your picture. This camera in my new Nokia E 65 is quiet disapointing.

Killa Kela

Unfortunately I did not take any photos. We were quite lazy in terms of sight seeing and had only a walk at the Alster in the afternoon, when it was already getting dark. Friday we did the tourism party tour in Hamburg and visited Pudels and ended in a bar.

On Saturday we attended a concert of Killa Kela at the Waagenbau. That was awesome. He is one of the best human beatbox of the world and he really did a good show. If you want to have an impression the youtube search might give you a good idea. The evening was also supported by one of my favorite german rappers Torch, who gave a DJ show under the name of Agent Star.

To sum up, great weekend!

Dendemann

Just went this evening to concert of Dendemann. German Rapper from Hamburg. Was a good show, but I missed some old songs of his first LP. More info you will find at: www.dendemann.com.

I will leave Holland for 5 days to Lausanne and shortly after that I will go to Cuba. Perhaps I will have some time (and stuff) to write in the blog. At least some cool pictures will be posted after that! Watch out.

Splash! is coming up...

... and I do not know, if I will go there. I have been there, two years ago and it was one of my best experiences I had ever with music. Line up this year is:

  • Gentleman, I saw him 4 times... he is great
  • Seeed, I saw them also multiple times, also very great especially their ability to perform over current hip hop tunes... with live band!
  • Juelz Santana, ok, dipset is not my favorit, but I will have a look, definitely!
  • Keith Murray, I don't know lots of him, but will be cool.
  • Fat Joe, I like him. He had with lean back one of the biggest rap tracks within the last years.
  • And then some german locals...
Unfortunately they closed the reggae stage... That s a little bit shitty.... But let's see, if the weather is ok, I will hit the road! it is 650 km to the east...!

UB-40 in Enschede

UB-40 in Enschede, what shall I say? Good music... ah don't know. Lots of old classics... ah sometimes. Mixed ppl. YEAH! True, that was it. Lots of different ppl of different age. Starting from 16 up to over 60. That was really fun. I have never seeen such a mixture on a concert of one artist. That was cool.

Also I learned, that they have more hits than red red wine. And surprise, they still make hits. All the dutch ppl knew them.

And actually they are named UB-40 after a form, which had to be filled in by unemployed ppl, such as the member of UB-40 have been back in the days.

Just have a look at some photos at flickr. Here is a direct link to the slideshow. Enjoy!

Guru concert in San Francisco

Alright, this concert is really worthy being blogged. I really enjoyed the evening and was really impressed by the relaxed atmosphere of the club. Actually this is the first club I have been, which has only one (!) toilet for all guests... However the reddevillounge is a great place. Before Guru there have been two other bands. The first was a relaxed hipHop band, which remind me of Ugly duckling. But I think they are just starting their business... Actually nobody knew the name of the band... I they were called P.E. As the second band a prototype of a nowadays rap band played some tunes. One rapper, lots of people, one back-up MC and one crunk guy who was really crazy... They did a good show and I enjoyed this crunk style, which I only saw on TV by now... Especially this guy only jumping on the the stage was fun! The audience was not really interested in their show...

Afterwards Guru showed up with DJ legend DooWhoop and Solar (producer of the new Jazzmatazz release). He played all my favs (Full clip, royalty, skillz, Rite where you stand...). I really had much fun. Unfortunately I have the feeling, that Guru has big problems to continue his work as a single artist on the high level of Gangstarr. Only the Gangstarr tracks were ass kicking and made the crowd jumping...

Whatever, the concert was great and I had lots of fun in Frisco!

Defari in Germany

Second post. A concert, I recently saw in Muenster. Defari member of the likwit junkies. A big hero of mine, seriously. He had until now two records, the first I really loved. It's probably of 1999 and named focused daily. I was curious seeing him and had strange feelings if I would get disappointed, because he had also a second album :)

However the show was good, he played most of my faves and also some tracks of the collaboration album with DJ Babu. It seems to be quiet like a tradition to have a drinking contest as well as some promotional statements about his current mixtape and his new album. I did not bought one of them, but a t-shirt. Quiet strange, my first t-shirt I bought on a concert... I think I will do that more often... I am glad that he did not put his myspace URL on the t-shirt, which defari often mentioned... So if you would like to have a check... www.myspace.com/defari

So overall a good concerts, was quiet full. I actually escaped right after the show, because I came alone. My first concert, which I went alone... also a strange feeling, but this was the best way to spend the evening... I can tell you. Next concerts: KRS-One, UB-40 (I have tickets for Enschede, I am really not sure, if it will be a good one... but it will BIG because sold-out).
